Bradley Louis McCourt
23 de diciembre de 1951 - 20 de enero de 2026
23 de diciembre de 1951 - 20 de enero de 2026
Bradley L. McCourt, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Wasilla, Alaska, on January 20, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Brad was born on December 23, 1951, in Oregon City, Oregon, to Jim and Virginia McCourt. When Brad was 11 years old, the family moved to Alaska—something he always joked happened “kicking and screaming the whole way, and still here.” He graduated from West High School in Anchorage in 1971.
A hard worker from a young age, Brad began working at just 14 years old at Piggly Wiggly (later Market Basket). By 16, he was working at Denali movie theater, where he became an assistant manager. Throughout his life, Brad was devoted to providing for his family. He retired from ConocoPhillips after a 35-year career on the North Slope and cherished retirement by traveling with his wife and spending quality time with his family.
Brad especially relished time spent with Jane and his two best friends at their Caswell Lakes property, often gathered around a blazing bonfire. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, particularly their many hockey games. Brad’s competitive spirit shone through in every game he played, whether cribbage, poker, or dice. From spring through October (and sometimes November), he could be found cheering on his beloved New York Yankees, followed by rooting for the Dallas Cowboys during football season.
Brad was a proud member of The Amvets Post 9, American Legion Post 35, and the American Cribbage Congress.
Brad will be forever missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Jane Chambers-McCourt; son Jason (Carmen) McCourt; daughter Morgan (Luc) Hegg; and his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Gudz, Lucas (Shawna) Gudz, Rylan, Kendal, and Keller Hegg. He is also survived by his brother Steve McCourt (Linda Broadbent); his two best friends of over 50 years, Michael (Teresa) Gorup and Ron (Linda) Julliussen; brothers-in-law Don (Lynn) Chambers and Tim (Peg) Chambers; sister-in-law Elaine (Tyler) Gray; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and family friends.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Virginia McCourt; his sister-in-law Lynn McCourt; and his parents-in-law, Arthur “Pete” and Betty Chambers.
A funeral service will be held at Christ First United Methodist Church in Wasilla, where Brad was a founding member, at 3:00 p.m. on January 31. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed and available for viewing for 30 days on the church’s Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ancora Hospice (3831 Blue Lupine Dr. Suite B, Wasilla, AK 99654), The Last Frontier Honor Flight (P.O. Box 875021, Wasilla, AK 99687), Christ First United Methodist Church of Wasilla (2635 S Old Knik Rd. Wasilla, AK 99654) or a charity of your choice.
