DeLaine Farris Owens

DeLaine Farris Adkins Owens was a caring and close sister, mom and grandma to many of us, her church friends. She was generous and spiritual, wanting the best for her friends, of whom there were many. DeLaine "passed over" into this world on the 14th day of the first month in 1930, born in Harmon, La. She graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, La., in 1947, and shortly after high school she went to Panama, where she met and married Robert S. Adkins. They were there for one to two years and then went to England, where their first son, Robert D., was born. DeLaine and her family returned to Shreveport in 1954, and their second son, Paul, was born there in 1955. She lived in Shreveport thereafter and was part-owner and chief administrator for a local insurance company. DeLaine moved to West Virginia, in 1974, and was remarried there. Upon her second husband's death, she went to Alaska, around 1986, to visit her mother, Jewell Farris, who died in October 1993. DeLaine liked it so much in Alaska, she never went anywhere else and became part of Skyline Foursquare Church, heading up the prayer chain. DeLaine passed on to Heaven on Jan. 29, 2015. She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Bobby) and Paul Adkins; and grandson, Paul Jr.; as well as many friends.
