Elizabeth Ann Hubbard
August 19th, 1921 - March 12th, 2022
August 19th, 1921 - March 12th, 2022
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Hubbard, born August 19, 1921, died peacefully on March 12, 2022, at her home with family in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of 100.
December 1941, Betty married her high school sweetheart, Bob, in Seattle. Bob & Betty moved to Alaska to start his public accounting service. They enjoyed all the challenges Alaska had to offer.
Bob & Betty built one of the first cabins on Big Lake and started numerous business ventures in Anchorage, Kodiak, and Homer. They were principals in employment services, hotels, bars, retail, and real estate. They were active members of the Lions, Elks, VFW, American Legion, and Eagles Clubs.
Retired in 1980, Bob & Betty moved to the East End Road on the family homestead in Homer. They bought a sawmill and enjoyed building their home from scratch.
They enjoyed gardening, family, and friends. Her family writes Betty was a perfect housewife, mother, friend, and mentor for all her life. She never complained, was humble, and always listened.
Betty discovered her love and talents as an artist in her late 70s. She was inspired by nature and the many beautiful scenes on the homestead.
Betty’s green thumb has kept her flowers blooming for all to admire and enjoy. She baked cookies and treats for her homestead guests and even continued harvesting the homestead potatoes well into her late 90s.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, LeAnn and Michael McHone of Homer; son, George Hubbard of Anchorage; daughter-in-law Marjorie Hubbard and daughter Candace; grandchildren Darren & Dennis Hubbard, Amy, Nick and wife Mary Francis Karnos, and Gwenn Hubbard; two great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Predeceased in death are husband Bob Hubbard, son Jeffery, grandson Rob Karnos, and daughter-in-law Marlene Hubbard.
