Gerald "Jerry" Herbert Olson

July 24th, 1929 - January 7th, 2018

July 24th, 1929 - January 7th, 2018

Gerald H. Olson was born to Rudolph and Anne Olson on July 7, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. Jerry went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2018 after a long and happy life. He relocated from California to Alaska in 1963. After retiring from the Anchorage Telephone Utility in 1980, he enjoyed spending more time flying his Super Cub around the beautiful Alaskan wilderness and writing his books. Jerry is survived by his wife, Susie, his son Randy Olson (Ginger), daughter Kathryn Olson Gipson (Tim) and step-daughter Sherri Scott. His family members include grandchildren Witt and Corinne Olson and Justin, Clint and Morgan Mulbay. He has three great grandchildren Jerry loved telling people about God and leading them into a personal relationship with Him. He was a follower of Jesus Christ on a deep and sincerely honest level. His children were his pride and joy. I dont know of a greater relationship of a father to his children than Jerry's. Jerry always commented when he heard "(Persons name) lost their battle with cancer". He would ask, "How can you battle cancer?" Well, battle it, he did. He lived fully and happily for most of the last 12 years he had the disease. He believed totally that his time on earth was structured and ordained by God and in whatsoever state he was, he was content. "Jerry was my beloved husband for over 40 years. He was a great man, husband and friend. I am blessed to have been his love and his wife. He was, and will always be, the love of my life." -Susie Olson. "I was fortunate to have him as my Dad." -Randy Olson "Celebrating your heavenly graduation." -Sherri Scott "If you had the opportunity to meet Dad, you probably realized he was a man of many and varied talents, who lived his life fully. If you were fortunate enough to know him well, especially in his final years, you likely saw his eternal perspective and singular purpose. And many will say in some way, large or small, they were never the same having had the privilege of knowing him and hearing his wise counsel. If you knew him as his daughter…there are no words…only extreme gratitude for the love we share. We would like to extend our sincere thank you to Susie, Dads beloved wife, for her tender care throughout and to those who loved him and ministered to him right up to his departure gate and final take off." -Kathryn Olson Gipson "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; which in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only me, but also to all who have loved His appearing." 2 Tim. 4:7,8
