16 février 1925 - 29 janvier 2018

James Arvle Taylor was born on February 16, 1925 in Cayuga, Texas and went to heaven while lying in the arms of his loving wife of 71 years on January 29, 2018 in Eagle River, Alaska. He was raised in rural East Texas and served in the Navy aboard the USS Indiana in WWII. He worked at several jobs but always had an interest in repairing cars and eventually had his own auto repair shop for 25 years in the Dallas, Texas area. After retirement, he moved to Eagle River, Alaska in 1993 to be near his daughter Linda. He joined Kings Way Ministry Center in Eagle River and became a long time Board Member. He had a beautiful bass voice and introduced the congregation to Southern Gospel Music when he formed the James Taylor Quartet. He was a caring and loving man and many of his friends looked upon him as their "adopted" brother, dad or grandpa. He worked at the church for many years and the children in the church school treasured him and looked up to him. He loved RVing and traveled throughout the lower 48 and Alaska. He would play Mexican Train anytime and was widely known for his delicious barbeque hamburgers. He is survived by his wife, Jean Taylor, daughters Carolyn (Larry) Hudson and Linda (George) Drummond, grandson Brent (Brandace) Hudson, great grandchildren Sarah Werbner and Cole Hudson. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 6 at 4pm at Kings Way Ministry Center, 10336 E. Eagle River Loop Rd., Eagle River. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Music Ministry at Kings Way or charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care for their loving care of him.
