Peggy Exendine passed away July 30, 2015 in Anchorage, Alaska after a very long battle with cancer. Those who knew Peggy will always remember her amazing strength, grace and above all, her love of family. She smiled through the hardest of times and never gave up. Peggy retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs where she served as a contracting officer. She also worked for Indian Health Service during her career. She was a member of the Alaska Native Sisterhood Camp No. 2 in Juneau and was also a member of the Yaaw Tei Yi dance group. Peggy was born March 20, 1951 in Juneau, Alaska to Eunice Wanamaker and Joseph Akagi, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Joseph Akagi, Jr. Peggy is survived by her husband Joe Exendine; son Dominic Hondolero; daughters Corissa Hondolero and Tami Wisniewski (Larry); grandchildren Brandon Hondolero and Lauren & Ashley Wisniewski; siblings Connie Lundy (Claude), Pamela Brooks (Mike), Randy Wanamaker (Karen), Sam Akagi (Terry) and Stuart Akagi (Carrie); as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Please join the family for a celebration of Peggy's life on September 6, 2015. Celebration to be held at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall at 2 pm (320 West Willoughby Ave.). Peggy loved joyful colors (think Hawaii) and was proud of her heritage; Hawaiian shirts & AK native regalia are appropriate & encouraged for the celebration!
