Michael Hayes, 79, passed away on September 22, 2016 at Northern Comfort Assisted Living in Palmer, Alaska. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Church on the Rock, 3571 W Machen Rd, Wasilla, Alaska. 

Michael was born on December 21, 1936 to John and Eugenia (Bouchard) Hayes in Washington, Indiana. Graduating from Washington Catholic High School, Michael went on to receive at Bachelors and Master's degree from University of Notre Dame; as well as a Master's degree from Stanford University. Michael is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Gill) Hayes; daughter, Susan Barnes, and her children; Zach, Luke, Nick, Andy and Tom Barnes, all of Palmer, Alaska; son, Art Hayes, and his children; Macklan, Spencer, Trevor and Libby Hayes, all of Fisher, Indiana; brother, John Hayes; sisters, Anna Rockefeller, Gingie Beck and Barbara Lukemeyer. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Eugenia Hayes; and his sister, Helen Thompson.
