Charles Meade Conides
22 juin 1959 - 5 décembre 2015
22 juin 1959 - 5 décembre 2015
Charles "Charlie" Meade Conides passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015. The youngest of four children, Charlie was born on June 22, 1959, in Fort Lee, Va., to the great joy of his loving parents, Charles and Beryl Conides. A lifelong Alaskan, Charlie graduated from East Anchorage High School in 1977, going on to become a well-respected and accomplished Journeyman Lineman and Journeyman Meterman. He worked for Municipal Light and Power for more than 25 years and with Chugach Electric Association thereafter. Charlie was a proud member of IBEW Local 1547. Those who were fortunate enough to know Charlie knew of his kind heart, sacrifices for others and his willingness to help everyone. And if you knew Charlie, you also knew of his many passions, not the least of which was high performance cars, but also downhill skiing, waterskiing and traveling. Above all, Charlie loved being with his family. He is survived by Jodi Conides, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage and beautiful memories and with whom he remained close friends after their separation; his children, of whom he was eternally proud, Taylor Conides, Michelle Benson and Jennifer Jingco; his three grandchildren, Emma Benson, Jack Benson and Penelope McGrath, with whom he was a kid again and bribed with enormous amounts of candy; his adoring parents, Charles and Beryl Conides, who showed him boundless love and in whom Charlie found his peace; his loving sisters, Helen Collins, Sandi Butler, Beryl Doyle and Yvette Conides, as well as his brother-in-law, Ted Butler, each of whom supported Charlie and loved Charlie beyond measure; his many nieces and nephews, Charlie, Kathleen, Michelle, Jeremiah, Ryan, Riley, Bobby, Cody and Krissy, each of whom was unique and precious to Charlie; and his girlfriend, Evvie Punches, with whom Charlie shared a special bond. Charlie leaves behind so many friends it would be impossible to begin to name them all. Charlie's favorite passage from the Bible was Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all of your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct your path." A Memorial Service for Charlie will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the Anchorage Baptist Temple. A Celebration of Life will also be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at a location to be announced. All who knew Charlie are welcome to attend
