Carl Robert Aahanaq Ravenscroft

Celebration of Life- In Loving Memory Carl Robert Aahanaq Ravenscroft was born on August 13, 1988 in Kotzebue, Alaska, in the old IHS hospital. He died on October 12, 2022 in Fairbanks, Alaska.Carl was intelligent, humble and intuitive. He loved to learn and to understand how things worked. At a very young age he read a complete set of encyclopedia in 6 months and read the entire Bible by age 10. He enjoyed history and was always eager to learn new things He was fascinated with motors, engineering and airplanes. Carl enjoyed spending his spare time working on his car, taking something apart and fixing it so it would run better or just to learn how it operated. Carl also loved music and playing his guitar.He and his sister would lose time talking about the 90’s or old times and how different things were then. Cartoons were a favorite subject for Carl; he also enjoyed anime, movies, comic books, and games. Carl especially enjoyed game nights with his close friends.He enjoyed helping people behind the scenes, not taking any credit. He was always there to support his family when they were in need. He had a way of being gentle in his guidance to teach what he knew. He loved to laugh and remember silly moments. Carl was humble and light-hearted, he loved jokes, and dry humor. He was always smiling his notorious sideways smile.Carl had a special vibe that will be greatly missed, he had a unique way of connecting with those he was close to. He was consistently called a cool and mellow guy. He wore shades to prove it. But he never boasted, just smiled.He immensely enjoyed being a counselor/group leader for GeoForce at UAF four years in a row. Carl recently received his associates and bachelor’s degrees in Earth Systems Science from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.He was preceded in death by his grandparents Carrie and Donald Ferguson Sr. and Lois and Clair Ravenscroft. Carl is survived by his father Scott Ravenscroft, mother Roberta Ravenscroft and step father Matthew Schuerch, sister Sara Blanton, step brother Dave Schuerch and nephew James Eli Blanton.We will be gathering to share our favorite memories, followed by a potluck in his honor on Wednesday October 19 at 630pm in the Fairbanks Clarion Hotel Yukon Conference Room.There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 22, at 11am in the Kotzebue Episcopal Church, followed by a burial at Cemetery Hill and a potluck at Cudd Hall.
