Doris Temple Alford

Doris (Midge) Alford, 88 passed away August 14, 2018 at home with family by her side, holding the hand of her husband of 68 years in Anchorage, Alaska. Doris was born November 26, 1929 in Worthing, Sussex, England. She married Frederick William Alford on September 18, 1950 in Worthing, England. The couple moved to Alaska in 1952 making their home in Anchorage. She became an American citizen in December, 1958 under the Territory of Alaska. She worked as a house cleaner for several prominent families in Anchorage over the years. Doris was a member of the Alaska Crippled Childrens Guild for many years. She was an avid knitter, winning many awards at both the Alaska State Fair and Fur Rendezvous. Doris enjoyed motorhome trips around Alaska and spending time with her granddaughter. Her family wrote: " She was the most loving wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could ever ask for. Although she was tiny, her heart was huge, and she gave a piece of it to everyone she met." Mrs. Alford is survived by her husband, Frederick William Alford, Anchorage; daughter, Elizabeth Alford-Wojtacha, Anchorage; granddaughter, Lily Grace Wojtacha, Anchorage; and extended family in England.
