Ina Mickle

Ina Mae Mickle, age 85 passed away peacefully at her home in Anchorage surrounded by family on December 27, 2013. She was born October 3, 1928 in Randolph County, Alabama. She grew up in the cotton fields, and worked in a textile mill. She married Bobby G. Mickle on December 20, 1952. After a tour with the Air Force, he moved to Alaska, where she joined him in 1958. Ina was a special lady. She liked most everyone she met, and made friends everywhere she went. She had a very unusual sense of humor, and had no problem speaking her mind with her Southern manners intact. Her Southern accent surprised most people when they found out how long she had been in Alaska. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spoiling her granddaughters. She also enjoyed trying to embarrass her granddaughters but was unsuccessful as they would just smile and say, "That's my Grandma!" She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; son, Jackie; five brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her brother, Junior Price and his wife, Betty Jo; daughter, Mary Martin and her husband, Al; granddaughter, Michelle Martin; granddaughter, Teresa Andersen and her husband, Dan; and great granddaughters, Jubilee and Adelai. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. January 11, 2014 at the North Anchorage Church of God, 1711 Bragaw Street with Pastor Tom Shook presiding.
