Kevin Merlynn Wilson
July 6th, 1940 - January 6th, 2025
July 6th, 1940 - January 6th, 2025
In the early morning hours on Jan. 6, 2025, Kevin M. Wilson passed away quietly in his sleep at home in Anchorage, Alaska. He was 84 1/2 years old. Kevin was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to Fred and Edyth Wilson on July 6, 1940. He was the youngest of seven children.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Kevin married his sweetheart, Caryl L. Damon, in 1962. After doing his apprenticeship in the sheet metal trade in Stockton, Calif., he moved his family to Anchorage in 1970, where he continued in the trade until retirement.
His free time was spent bowling, camping, fishing and hunting with family and friends. He had a passion for building airboats.
"Dad never met a stranger"; he was soft-spoken, always there and willing to lend a helping hand. Enjoyed coaching many a kid, young or old, to be better bowlers.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Caryl; children, Chris and Nancy Wilson and Heidi (Marcy) and Jack LeBrun; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his only surviving brother, Fritz Wilson; sister, Pauline Dauphin; and numerous nieces, nephews and their offspring.
Kevin will be truly missed by his Alaska family, the friends he continued to collect through out his life from his hobbies to his favorite place to be at his cabin on the Deshka River.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Edyth Wilson; sister, Peggy; brother, Chuck and sister-in-law Marion; brother, Jaime; and brother, Danny and sister-in law, Darlene.
Interment of Kevin's ashes will be at Fort Richardson National Cemetery on July 8, 2025, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
