May 11th, 1922 - November 14th, 2021
Velma Beatrice Lenhart, 99, passed away on November 14, 2021, at her home in Anchorage, Alaska. No services are scheduled at this time.
Velma was born on May 11, 1922, in St. Maries, Idaho to Donald and Edith (Wilson) Buchanan.
She was raised in Washington where she met and married Bill L Lenhart on July 24, 1942. They had two children, Billy Jr and Shilli. The couple lived in Omak, Washington until moving to Alaska in 1964 to help rebuild after the earthquake. Velma loved to sew, garden, crosswords and of course, Judge Judy.
Velma spent many summers on the Kenai River in the family motorhome. Her days were spent caring for her family and raising her children, but she was also an amazing nanny to her dear girls, Shannon and Bridget.
Her family wrote, “Velma was very kind to everyone and had a beautiful soul.”
Velma is survived by her daughter, Shilli P. Lenhart, Chugiak, AK; and grandson, Christopher T. Lenhart, Minneapolis, MN.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Billy; sister, Ada James; and brother, Bob Buchanan.
