Harry N Richards

Harry N. Richards, 80 passed away March 22, 2015 at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. A memorial Mass will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Talkeetna. Harry was born April 26, 1934. After graduating high school, he served honorably in the United States Air Force. Harry came to Alaska where he worked as a Fire Chief on Pipeline with the Teamsters. He moved to Talkeetna where he met and married Jeanette (Nikolai) Komis on April 6, 1991. The couple has made their home since in the Sunshine area. Harry had an interest in the Catholic Church years prior to meeting his wife eventually becoming Catholic just prior to the couple's marriage. He was quite the fisherman in his earlier days but got to the streams less in the last years due to his diabetes and its many complications. Harry finally retired totally five years ago from the nearby Tesoro service station. Harry is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Sunshine and her children, Verena Nilsson of Anchorage, Bryan (Jody) Komis of Wasilla, and Craig Komis of Anchorage; brothers, Jim (Theresa) Richards of Pennsylvania and Ed (Kathy) Richards of Oregon; sister, Doris Brenizer of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Mr. Richards is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Sarah; three brothers, Bill, Clyde and Bob; and three sisters, Virginia, Sarah, and Millie.
