Mary Jo Snyder

13 de abril de 1955 - 16 de septiembre de 2025
Mary Jo Brock Copher Snyder passed away in Anchorage, AK on September 16, 2025.
Born on April 13, 1955, Mary Jo moved frequently in her youth until she ended up in Kansas City, MO where she attended Southwest High School and then worked at the Kansas City MO Federal Reserve. After moving to Minneapolis for a few years, she then moved to Alaska in 1992 (just before Mount Spur erupted) and arrived at her forever home. She knew from watching “Northern Exposure” that it was the place for her.
Everyone who knew Mary Jo knows her devotion to her dogs; through her lifetime they were her family. She has many four-footed friends waiting for her across the Rainbow Bridge. Pugs were her favorite but she gave her love to all dogs. She was very active with Polar Pug Rescue and Friends, including being on the board of directors for years, and was known for throwing fantastic Pug parties.
After many years working for VF Grace, she was able to enjoy a couple years of retirement before her passing.
Mary Jo is predeceased by her parents, Terry and Mary Brock; and she is survived by her brother, Michael Brock (spouse Valerie Schroer), and her sisters, Jeanne Marie Brock, Kathleen Brock, and Anne Brock (spouse Brent Gilstrap), along with her nephews Toby Breig Brock (spouse Kaye Lewis) and Tiger Brock Baker (partner Kara Kanatzer), as well as loving cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mary Jo was gifted with many friends over the years who supported her and found joy with her. A special thanks to Ted Nictune, who was invaluable in her last few months.
Donations to local dog rescue organizations in her name are greatly appreciated.
A Zoom memorial will be held at a later date (details to follow).

Maryjo, a true PugVillage friend, remembering play dates for the pugs at that little park, visiting your pug den (and Moose!) and trusting you to watch over my babies when I was absent occasionally and all the advice and hugs when needed. I’ll always remember you as my great friend and pug lover. May all the pugs (and there’s lots!) that went before you, take good care of you. Sending love, Sadie.

I am out of the country with my son and we were both shocked to hear of Maryjo's passing. She was a bright light in our lives. Her love of dogs and all animals was her finest quality, and her kindness was a trait to be envied. We will miss her tremendously.

I "met" Maryjo on a Web group know as TTOB's (True Tough Old Broads), MJ as she was known to us was as said, well known for the love of her dogs. My thoughts are with MJ's family and friends.

¿Cómo conociste a Mary?
I met MaryJo online in the group TTOB probably close to 25 years ago. I was lucky enough to meet her in person twice, when I traveled to Alaska. MaryJo knew I loved the National Parks and sent me a wonderful puzzle and then beautful map of the parks that had some tiny trees to mark each park I have visited. One online group will sure miss Maryjo and all the wonderful pictures of her beloved puppies.
