15 janvier 1946 - 6 février 2022

Stephen Carl Robertson, aka "Steve the Stinger," of Anchorage Alaska, passed away peacefully in his home on February 6th, 2022. He was surrounded by family and so much love. Steve was born on January 15th, 1946 in Fremont, Michigan. He survived polio and rheumatic fever as a small child, and then outlived every doctor that told him he would never see adulthood. Steve graduated from Fremont High School in 1964. He spent a lifetime excelling in the sales profession, but his true passion was prospecting for gold and poking at campfires. In fact, his knowledge of prospecting landed him a feature in the National Enquirer in 2009. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Robertson, his sister Dorothy Pearson, his first love and lifetime friend Vicki Shrum, and love of his life Marilee Robertson. He is survived by his brothers in Michigan, Lester (Charlene) Robertson and Donald (Sheila) Robertson; Daughters in Alaska, Stephanie (Richard) Goughnour, Michelle (Frank) Kelly, Shelly (James) Rockwell, and his favorite, Melanie (Daniel) Collyer. Steve had 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was a "snowbird" between Arizona and Alaska for several years before finally settling in the colder of two states to live close to family. As an avid outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and prospecting. He traveled whenever possible and especially enjoyed his visits back to Michigan. He loved cookies, pies and donuts almost as much as he loved spending quality time with friends and family. Steve met some strange people in his lifetime, but never a stranger! He made friends wherever he went. His contagious spirit was hard to ignore, and his brutal honesty mixed with his unique humor made him an easily treasured friend for life. Steve shared many words of wisdom that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Most notably, "It all makes sense if you don't think about it." He really was the best Dad, Pop-O, Daddy, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend ever and he will be greatly missed. A potluck-style celebration of life will be held at American Legion, Post 1 on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at 4pm. Pastor Randell Jones will officiate. Please bring your fondest stories and let's celebrate the legacy this incredible man left behind! Steve requested that in lieu of flowers, people consider a donation to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
