Dariel Lemar Stephens Sr.

Dariel Lemar Stephens Sr., passed away Feb. 21, 2014. He was born at sunrise on Jan. 7, 1951, in Lagrange, Ga. After moving to Alaska as a child, Dariel made Anchorage his home.ÿFuneral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, with visitation one hour before, at Alaska Cook Inlet Funeral, 7216 Lake Otis Parkway in Anchorage. The public is invited to attend a fellowship luncheon after the service at the American Legion, Post 34, 916 Ingra St.ÿDariel graduated from Lathrop High School, attended Alaska Community College and earned welding technician certificate from Alaska Welding.ÿHis loving spirit and giving heart will be dearly missed in this world. He was the type of man to go out of his way to help his friends and family. Dariel was a strong man who loved his children and would do anything to ensure their well-being and happiness.ÿHis smile and laughter was contagious; on any given day his presence would lighten the room. Dariel will be sorely missed by those who loved him.Dariel is survived by his mother, Mary; former wife, Sara Gilley; children Ebony Smith, Dariel Stephens, Jr., Sadie and Tisha; brothers, Robert and Alvin Stephen; sister, Gwendolyn Leggett; grandchildren, Ishia Rawls, Kiera Smith, Eboni Smith, Elijah Smith, and Dariel Stephens III, as well as several members of his extended family in Alaska and Georgia.Funeral services were entrusted to the Cremation Society of Alaska.
