Richard Francis Harnois

Richard F. Harnois, 77, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island passed away on March 22, 2024. Born January 26, 1947 the son of Joseph Harnois and Doris (Racine) Harnois.Richard enjoyed traveling and one of his greatest adventures brought him to Alaska via his Volkswagen Van. He graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a degree in Journalism. Richard went on to serve in the Navy after which time began working for the Alaska Department of Transportation. Richard had the pleasure of overseeing the construction of many roads and bridges throughout the State and retired with 35yrs of service. Fairbanks always held a special place in his heart. Richard was an avid history buff and collector. He loved his dog Nanook and watching his shows like Treehouse Masters, American Pickers, Oak Island and the Alaska Coast Guard.Survived by his Mother, Doris Harnois; Cousin, Christine Grocki and Step Children; Traci Vraniak, Terry Helmueller and Monique LaPerriere. He is preceded in death by his Father, Joseph Harnois; Wife, Carolyn Helmueller and Jacque LaPerriereThe family will have a Celebration of Life Ceremony at a later date and spread his ashes along side Carolyn’s.
