Richard Lincoln Rondeau
February 12th, 1930 - May 9th, 2018
February 12th, 1930 - May 9th, 2018
Richard L. Rondeau of Copper Center, Alaska, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2018, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Richard was born on Feb. 12, 1930, in Windham, Conn., to George and Louise Rondeau, the youngest of 15 children. Richard served six years in the armed services, including two years in the Korean War, and was an automotive mechanic by trade. Richard met his first wife, Flora Allen, in Anchorage, Alaska, and they were married in 1955, until her death in November 2001. Richard and Flora had seven children. Richard married his second wife, Clara Kelly, in 2002. They spent their time fishing and traveling up and down the Alaska highways in their motor home until her diagnosis of Alzheimer's and move into the Anchorage Pioneer Home in 2014. Richard was a traveler by heart, and he traveled the Alcan Highway in the 1960s more than once, with his family and dog in tow. His children have many fond memories of those trips. Richard entertained many with his piano and guitar playing, and he loved to hunt and fish. Richard hunted moose with his sons up to the young age of 82. Richard enjoyed baking pies and bread for family and friends: count yourself lucky if you were the recipient of such a treat! Richard was preceded in death by his parents; all 14 siblings; first wife, Flora Rondeau; and stepson, Richard Stewart. He is survived by sister, Doris Rondeau; wife, Clara Kelly of Anchorage; daughters, Debbie Townsend of Copper Center, Diane Cooley of Pippin Lake, Alaska, Jeanette Feller of Anchorage and Daphne Rondeau of Anchorage; and sons, David Rondeau of Copper Center and Mitch Rondeau of Anchorage; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his good friend and neighbor, Judy Pearson. No services are planned.
