Frances Glodine Adams

September 10th, 1935 - October 1st, 2023

September 10th, 1935 - October 1st, 2023

Frances Glodine Adams, 88 yrs “young”, transitioned to her Eternal home on October 1, 2023, from Anchorage, Alaska. A long life, well-lived, Frances was born September 10, 1935, in Corsicana, Texas. At 5 years old, her family moved to California where she grew up, living mainly in San Diego. There she attended San Diego High School, eventually married, and over the next few decades, worked and gave birth to 5 children before moving the family to Montgomery, AL. in 1979. She excelled in being employed as a silk finisher in dry cleaning establishments for nearly 25+ years, a skill set that she was able to carry with her wherever she lived. In 1991 she allowed herself to be coaxed to join her eldest daughter on an Alaskan adventure. Frances embraced the challenges and wonderment of Alaska like the trooper she’s always been, hiking up to Flat Top Mountain, trudging through knee deep snow around town, traveling on the Alaska Railroad to view glaciers or visits to Seward for marine tours. Many of these adventures were facilitated through her church family, formerly known as the Anchorage Baptist Temple.Aside from dodging moose and developing a new passion for planespotting out beside runway 31 at the Ted Stevens International Airport, Frances forged many blessed relationships and impacted everyone she met and as a result the love and admiration she’s been shown is beyond all measure. Her infamously glorious hugs were sought after wherever she gathered. Most importantly, she loved her family and she loved our God!In recent years the winters began to affect her more adversely, almost to the point of hibernating like the bears. Fortuitously, she spent this past winter as a “Snowbird” for three months in the lower 48 with her other children. Unbeknownst to all, It was the last time they’d be together physically, seeing the growth of her grandchildren and the latest addition to the great-grands.Frances had been diagnosed with inoperable gist tumors behind her esophagus in 2019. Although slow growing, she weathered chemo and radiation treatments to reduce them, which eventually metastasized into her liver and kidneys. She battled valiantly without further treatment which had become financially unfeasible.Divorced/widowed, Frances is survived by all 5 of her children, Carolyn Tony, Lynn, Joseph, and Jolie; grandchildren, Andre+Dominik(DIL), Eric, Jasmine, Marley Shae, Jewell and Jayden; and 6 great-grandchildren, Jeremih, Jaxx, Zee, Zaynah, Peyton, and Adonis. A Celebration of Life service is to be held 4 pm Sunday, November 5t at the First United Methodist Church, 725 9th Ave. Anchorage, Alaska. Small reception to follow.
