Gary Ralph Solnick

On the evening of September 15, 2022, Gary Ralph Solnick, passed away at the age of 61 in Anchorage, Alaska. Gary was born on September 15, 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio where he grew up and went to school. He joined the United States Air Force in 1979 and served for 3 years. In 1980 he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska where he met and married his wife, Nancy, on April 5, 1983. They raised two children, Devon and Kelsey. He retired from the Air Force in 1982 and then became employed with the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 35 years as a mail handler and mechanic. Gary loved the Alaskan outdoors, boating, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and visiting his family in Ohio. One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather “Papa” and spending time with his grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Solnick, and stepfather, Walter “Arch” Kalbrunner. He is survived by his wife Nancy Solnick, son Devon (Jessica) Solnick, daughter Kelsey Solnick, mother Nancy Kalbrunner, brother Mick Solnick, sister Nancy (Todd) Roman, nieces and nephews, and two grandchildren Taylor and Brody. A celebration of life will be held on a date and time to be determined.
