June 23rd, 1930 - November 2nd, 2015
Gus Cosmo Cazac, 85, passed away on Nov. 2, 2015, peacefully at home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m. on Nov. 29, 2015, at the Anchorage Moose Lodge, 4211 Arctic Blvd in Anchorage, Alaska. His cremated remains will be interred at later date with full military honors. Gus was born on June 23, 1930, in Wenatchee, Wash. He grew up in Juneau, Alaska. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Moving to Anchorage in 1965, Gus worked his entire life as a marine electronic master. Through his company, Gus's Electronic Marine, he probably knew every boat owner in Alaska. Gus was a member of the Moose and the American Legion. He was also a member and held several offices in the United States Bowling Congress. He was the bowling coach for Dimond High School. Gus was a silver certified bowling coach. His love was to coach youth bowlers. His family wrote: "If you knew Gus, you were blessed. His loyalty and love for those he cared about was unsurpassed. He would do anything for those he cared about, and would be there day or night to help. He believed in people in a way that did not hold their past against them and he could always see the best in those he encountered. He greeted everyone he knew with a friendly smile and warm hug. He loved kids and he derived a great deal of happiness from teaching others to fish and bowl. He was an amazing person who will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him." Gus is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Tammy Cazac of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Eddie Thomas of Eagle River, Alaska; granddaughters, Brandy Stratman of Anchorage, Marian Soifua of Anchorage, Lynelle Van Eck of Wasilla, Alaska, Jessica Perkins of Washougal, Wash., and Cassie Regan of Nevada; grandsons, Connor Cazac of Anchorage, Duran Cazac of Uzbekistan, and Daniel Cazac of Texas; niece, Carmen Gutierrez of Anchorage; and lifelong friend, Jonny Harris of Anchorage. Preceded in death by sons, Gus Jr., Larry and Randy Cazac; and daughter, Teri Vosgien. Donations to the Anchorage Scholastic Bowling League will be accepted at the celebration of life service.
