Larry Smith

Larry was born in Texas to Lewis and Creola Smith. After college he worked as a research chemist at Texas Instruments in Dallas. He met Jackie in early 1963 and they married on June 29. Together, they began their teaching career which took them to Arizona, bush villages in Alaska, and Anchorage. The two of them retired in 1987 to a fulfilled life of fishing, hunting, RV traveling, flying their Cessna 185, and spending time at their cabin on Shulin Lake. Larry was preceded in death by his grandson Jack Cooper. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Jackie; son-Jerard Taggart, wife Cindy, children Lexi and Logan; daughter-Katrina, wife Rose, sons Jesse and Jason. Special friends Dave Cooper, Dennis and Gwyn Ackerman and granddaughter Megan Ackerman. Larry passed away suddenly and peacefully of a massive coronary on December 7 at home with Jackie by his side. He was 85 years and 7 months old.
