Marjorie Helen "Midge" Howard, 77, passed away peacefully at home in Palmer, Alaska, on July 3, 2026, with her son and daughter by her side.

Midge was born on January 12, 1949, in Porterville, California, to Paul and Millie Howard. She spent her childhood in Fullerton, Trona, and Firebaugh, California, graduating from Dos Palos High School in 1967.

After high school, Midge moved to Fresno, where she met her first husband, Bill, and welcomed their son, Brian, in 1968. Nine years later, with her second husband,David, she welcomed her daughter, Mia, and the family made their home in Visalia, California.

Later in life, Midge found her soulmate, Mark "Stack" Stackhouse. They shared 18 years of marriage before his passing. Together, they lived throughout Oregon before moving to Valdez, Alaska, in 1991. They later called Talkeetna and Anchorage home before building a small log cabin in Big Lake. She eventually settled in the Wasilla-Palmer area, where she lived out the remainder of her life.

Throughout her life, Midge embraced many careers, including banking, cosmetology, waitressing, restaurant and bar management, and retail. She eventually fulfilled her dream of owning and operating a home care agency in Alaska before retiring.

Midge had a lifelong love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherwoman, hunter, and camper who found joy in Alaska’s beauty and sharing those experiences with her family. She also enjoyed reading, movies, baking, quilting, crafting, stained glass art, oil painting and had a love for tie - dying. A true "Bingo Queen," she especially cherished playing bingo with her son, Brian, a tradition they shared until just five days before her passing.

Midge was truly one of a kind—adventurous, fearless, and a free spirit who lived life on her own terms. Strong-willed, quick-witted, and unapologetically herself, she embraced every day of her life with courage. Her unforgettable sense of humor and sarcasm brought laughter wherever she went, and she had a remarkable gift for connecting with people from all walks of life. Beneath her fiery spirit was a loving, kind, and generous heart, always willing to share her wisdom and favorite clichés. In her later years, Midge’s Christian faith became a source of comfort, strength, and peace, guiding her through life’s joys and challenges. Whether fishing with (or teaching) her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, she created treasured memories and passed down traditions that will continue for generations.

Midge is survived by her sister, Paulette Lorenzetti; brother, Sean Howard (Pam); son, Brian Williams; daughter, Mia Martinez (Tony); granddaughters, Charnae Edmonds, Briley Brossow (Kenneth), and Ariana Martinez; great grandsons Damien and Dezmond and her nephew, Michael Howard.

She also leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Millie Howard; her beloved soulmate, Mark "Stack" Stackhouse; brother in law, Ron Lorenzetti and niece, Ronda Anne Lorenzetti. Though Midge’s presence will be deeply missed, her adventurous spirit, laughter, and unconditional love will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

The family will be gathering privately to celebrate and honor Midge’s life.
