Warren Lloyd Lindell
October 25th, 1935 - January 11th, 2024
October 25th, 1935 - January 11th, 2024
Warren Lloyd Lindell, 88, died January 11, 2024, at home in Anchorage, Alaska, after a long illness. His wife, Penny was at his side.
Born October 25, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Lloyd and Marie (Prince) Lindell, Warren grew up in and around Duluth, Minnesota. He graduated from Esko High School in Esko, Minnesota, in 1954, and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. In 1957, he married Elaine Mattson, and they raised two sons and a daughter in Esko.
In 1980, after that marriage ended, Warren moved first to Anchorage and later to Juneau. He embraced the Alaska way of life, taking road trips and hunting, fishing, and camping at every opportunity. He and Penny Bowman married in 1985 and settled in Anchorage. Together they enjoyed many Alaska adventures, and they both also loved to dance.
Warren was known as a man who could repair virtually anything, and over the years he worked in maintenance for a number of federal agencies, including the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the FBI. He retired in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Penny of Anchorage; a sister, Thomasine RIchardson of Denver, Colorado; and his children: Kevin Lindell and wife Tammy of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; Kerry Lindell of Esko, Minnesota; Jan Juntunen and husband Todd of New Ulm, Minnesota; and Karmen Bowman and Kevin Bowman of Juneau. Also surviving are a niece, Terri Halverson and husband, Paul of Wisconsin and nephews Scott Maunu and wife Shay of Denver and Mark Maunu and wife Wendy of Florida. Warren's survivors also included ten grandchildren: Amber, Lindsey, Haley, Emily, Lucas, Kyle, Kaleb, Kristin, Demrie and Mariah, as well as seven great grandchildren.
Warren did not want a memorial service, but his family holds him in their memory as a kind, gentle man whom they will miss very much. He loved them, and they loved him.
