Ian Joseph Fisher

October 24th, 1990 - October 29th, 2020

October 24th, 1990 - October 29th, 2020

On Oct. 29, 2020 after a determined lifetime fight with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Ian Joseph Fisher, passed away and ascended to heaven. Ian was born on Oct. 24, 1990, in Vancouver, Wash., and immediately went with his family to Juneau, Alaska, where he spent his first 6 years before moving to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1997. He started school at Russian Jack Elementary and graduated from East High School in 2009. His parents, Peter and Jean Fisher; sister, Christina Fisher; nieces and nephew, Jocelyn, Isabel and Timothy; plus many extended family members survive Ian. Throughout his life Ian had an amazing medical team, to numerous to list here, who worked tirelessly to give him the tools and services needed for his fight against this disease. For this his family is forever grateful. In his many adventures was accompanied and helped by his best friends Tyler Owen and Joshua Lewis and other close friends to whom he was always loyal to and held dearly. Ian was an amazing man who knew his fate and was determined to live life to the fullest in the short amount of time he had on this earth. Those fortunate enough to know him and who went along for the ride will always remember the many adventures and him. Though these adventures sometimes resulted scrapes, bruises and broken bones, he refused to let that stop him. He was always coming up with crazy new ideas such as using his wheelchair as an ATV and on skateboard ramps and convincing his friends to help him act on them. Ian was vibrant and full of life and always brought a smile to peoples faces even when creating chaos. He was always there offering love and support to family and friends through good times and bad with little concern for his own problems. He will be missed dearly. The family hopes to have a celebration of life gathering at their home this coming summer when hopefully the current troubles have passed and ask you to remember when a man says goodbye the Lord says hello.
