Randall Thomas Sale
May 13th, 1963 - March 23rd, 2022
May 13th, 1963 - March 23rd, 2022
Randall "Randy" Thomas Sale stepped into the arena one last time to fight the world's deadliest bull, COVID-19. He took the bull by the horns for 38 days and exited this earthly arena for the last time at 5 p.m. on March 23, 2022. It will always be 5 somewhere.
Randy came out breach, like a wrecking ball, weighing in at almost 11 pounds on May 13, 1963. He placed fourth out of six to Mary Jean and Dennis Sale in Madison, S.D.
His career in clowning began in Missoula, Mont., as a charter member of the "Pig Dogs" earning him the nickname "Soupy Sale." He then took his show on the road North to Alaska, in 1981. He enjoyed performing as a rodeo clown for half a decade. Because "clowning around" doesn't always pay the bills, he dedicated 30 plus years at Carrs grocery store, at various locations in Alaska.
Randy was an avid collector, with an impressive array of movies, clothes/jackets, nostalgic memorabilia and antique furniture. Despite not having a full foot - aka "Foo" - his shoe collection was extensive.
He dilly dallied in modeling, photography and enjoyed all the outdoors Alaska has to offer Randy's signature laugh coupled with his filthy humor was loud, infectious and legendary.
He was humble, kind and generous, giving the shirt off his back, the shoe off his "Foo" a place to stay to anyone in need. Being "Papa Randy" was his final legendary mark left in this world.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother; father; brother, Mike; and nieces, Kristy and Danielle.
He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Jo Sale Nuxall; son-in-law, Merad; grandchildren, Lukas, Piper and DJ; four siblings, Margie (Jim), Robert (Cindy), Linda Sale and David (Jeannette); sister-in-law, Marilyn; four nieces; five nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews.
Very special thanks to Providence and St Elias medical team who showed Randy the love and respect he deserved.
