Barbara Jean Weber
2 mars 1947 - 8 mai 2021
2 mars 1947 - 8 mai 2021
On Saturday, May 8, 2021, Barbara Jean Weber, loving wife, mother of three children, and grandmother of five grandsons, passed away at the age of 74.
Barbara was born in San Francisco, CA to Leo and Marie Stout. After being raised in Daly City, CA, Barbara received her degree in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University, before moving to Valdez, AK.
In Valdez, Barbara and Peter Duane Weber were destined to find one another. They fell deeply in love, and they were married on May 29th, 1971. They raised three children, Krista (Marvin), Michael, and Rebecca (Smith). Barbara loved being out on the waters of Prince William Sound, fishing, exploring, and spending time with her family. She was an expert reader of nautical charts, a fierce slayer of silver salmon, and enjoyed pulling shrimp pots every season with her lifelong fishing partner, Pete.
Beginning her career at the Harborview Developmental Center and finishing with the Valdez City School system, Barbara dedicated her 50 year career to helping countless children and individuals. She made lasting friendships, which she valued deeply, with many of those she worked with.
Barbara was known for her humor, her amazing talent and creativity, and her famous cooking. She couldnt eat ice cream without a blanket, had extreme accuracy snapping a dish towel, enjoyed horror movies that scarred her children for life, and watched every Judge Judy episode. Twice. Barbara was a poor loser when it came to cards, hater of tickles, a talented quilter, and a loving, generous, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, her children, her grandsons Chase, Lucas, and Michael Marvin and Ethan and Cole Weber, her brother James Stout, sister Mary Guillen, and her nephews and niece, Michael Guillen, Amanda Kotler, and Christopher Stout.
She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. The family will be holding a small, private ceremony during the summer of 2021 and hopes others will gather together and honor Barbara with their own celebrations (especially with cute crewneck sweatshirts, cheesecake, and wine). The family encourages social media sharing of celebration photos and favorite memories.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Connecting Ties in her honor. Locally, cash or check donations may be dropped off at the Connecting Ties office. Donations with a credit card may be made through Second Time Around by calling 907-835-2174.
