Rrita Shevawn ColemanDecember 28, 1985 – June 2, 202337-year-old Rrita Coleman, mother of Luigi, Aahliya, and Blue Coleman, left thisworld while being hopeful about the future. She was born in Anchorage, Alaska toMaria D.L. Coleman and James Stuart, and Spirit Father George Coleman onDecember 28, 1985. Rrita Coleman was proud of her Eklutna Dena’ina, Black, and Hispanic heritage,participated in many cultural events, supported and performed in Ida’ina K’eljeshna.She is a descendant of the honored Chief Simeon Busdat and Olga Ezi, Chief(Walking Bill) William Ezi and Mary Peter, Maternal Grandparents Elizabeth (Ezi)Mills and Dale Santiago, Adoption Grandparents Herlee and Rita Stineburg, andPaternal Grandmother Leoney Stewart Fuqua. Rrita remained connected to asmany relatives as she could, including with spirit sisters and brothers.Rrita Coleman was a popular Hairstylist/Hairdresser/Esthetician who kept family andfriends in style. Just recently she earned a certificate for Mental Health First Aid.She was fussy about details and cherished kind acts. She loved dancing, creativeprojects, and sang very well in private. Rrita was preceded in death by her grandparents and a number of uncles, aunts,and precious siblings. She is survived by a large family, including her parents,“Parental” Doug Slate, many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews, SistersLeila, Georgena, Tresia, Rikki, Tanae, Chante, Alex, Shellene, Jacklyn, Jewel Ann,Stefanie, Shanna, Sonja, Dusti, Candice, and Vicki, Brothers Jason (PJ), Jeremy(JJ), Regis, Rio, Adrian, and Jimmy. Services and laying to rest will be held at Eklutna Village on Monday, June 12, 2023,2pm. Celebration of Life will be held in Anchorage at Guido’s Pizza, 549 WInternational Airport Rd, Anchorage, Alaska on Saturday, June 17, 2023, 5pm.Contributions will be accepted to care for and assist Rrita’s children.
